My daughter (age 4) loves playing with this scale...the cups are large enough for comparing all kinds of household objects. Overall, highly recommended as a fun, engaging toy. My only complaint is that the little red stick that keeps the scale from swinging 180 degrees if the cups are not attached) keeps falling out or turning just enough to inhibit the scale from balancing properly, although the stick is not actually necessary for the scale to work. This is the best balance scale for children I have seen. It is sturdy and colorful, large enough to be user friendly for small hands, and is made of all natural materials. The dishes are easily removable. Every child who comes into the room is drawn to play with this. Placing objects into the dishes poses an appropriate small motor challenge for 3 and 4 year olds. They are fascinated by the movement. Provide lightweight objects for the dishes. A small rock or largish shell will bring the dish down to the wood platform.
