Haba's toys feature materials generally found in nature. Haba purchases their wood, primarily Maple and Beech wood from long-term regional partners. Wood is naturally resistant to bacteria which makes it a great material for toys especially baby toys, baby teethers and baby grasping toys.
Haba only uses baby safe, water-based ecological solvent free lacquers on the surfaces of their wooden toys. Multiple lacquer layers render the surface of the toy extremely resistant to humidity, saliva and wear and tear, allowing the toy to be taken from the hand to the mouth at any time.

Trix well made but did not hold the interest of our 6-month old N of Thornhill, Ontario from 9/27/2008 7:50:36 PM
Our 6 month old is neutral about this toy. He plays with it and wears it like a bracelet around his wrist, but this is not one of his favorite toys - he loses interest in it within a few minutes. The product is very well made - other kids may react differently though.
